Urban development projects in Katowice

Katowice is advancing several major urban development projects. In August 2026, the city awarded a 56.1 million PLN contract to NDI S. A. for the construction of a sports and recreation complex in the Kostuchna district. Located on the former Boże Dary mine site, the facility will feature a 6-lane pool, a sports hall, and recreational zones, utilizing geothermal water and photovoltaic panels for sustainability.

Simultaneously, plans were unveiled for a new 133-meter residential skyscraper near the Spodek arena at Chorzowska 1. Designed by Konior Studio for MTX Development, the 34-story tower is intended to serve as a regional landmark and will include approximately 332 apartments and a large public terrace. The project is expected to take roughly five years to complete.
