Katowice launches tenders for Green Budget ecological projects

The Katowice Municipal Greenery Department has announced two new tenders for projects from the previous year's Green Budget. These initiatives aim to implement 20 pro-ecological ideas proposed by residents, including the planting of trees and shrubs, the creation of flower meadows, and the development of habitats for birds, hedgehogs, and hares.

The total value of these two proceedings exceeds 706,000 PLN, with a submission deadline of November 6. Additionally, a third tender is nearing resolution; one company has submitted a bid of 330,000 PLN for projects such as covering lampposts with climbing plants in the Three Ponds Valley, managing terrain near the Tysiącecie district brine spring, and revitalizing a green area on Solska Street.

Katowice Mayor Marcin Krupa noted that the Green Budget is a vital tool for urban greening and ecological education, giving residents direct influence over their local environment. Over the past seven editions, nearly 700 tasks have been implemented with a total value exceeding 19.2 million PLN.
