Katsina State launches initiatives to boost food security
Katsina State has launched several initiatives to bolster food security and support agricultural communities. Governor Dikko Umaru Radda unveiled a $1 million project titled ‘Protecting Food Security Against Recurring Floods and Drought’. Implemented by Mercy Corps Nigeria with support from the Katsina State Development Management Board, the 12-month intervention aims to build resilience against climate change, soil erosion, and post-harvest losses.
In a separate effort, philanthropist Muhammad Rabiu Hashim donated N12 million worth of fertilizer, cash, and food items to the Burdugau community in the Malumfashi Local Government Area. The donation included 200 bags of fertilizer for farmers, cash assistance for married women, and economic tree seedlings, such as mango and lime, to support local livelihoods and poverty alleviation.
