Kaufland launches online marketplace in the Netherlands
Kaufland, a subsidiary of the Schwarz Group, has officially launched its online marketplace in the Netherlands. This expansion marks the eighth country where the retailer operates an e-commerce platform, joining markets in Germany, Austria, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Poland, France, and Italy.
The new Dutch platform, kaufland.nl, offers approximately nine million products across various categories, including electronics, garden supplies, and DIY tools. The marketplace is supported by roughly 3,000 merchants, many of whom are based in Germany.
Kaufland aims to compete with major online retailers such as Amazon and Bol. The company has indicated that Spain is the next target for its international e-commerce expansion. Gerald Schönbucher, Kaufland's e-commerce board member, stated that the goal is to provide a wide variety of products at attractive prices on a secure platform.
