TS-LKD confirms 17 mayoral candidates and begins Kaunas primaries

The Homeland Union-Lithuanian Christian Democrats (TS-LKD) have confirmed 17 additional mayoral candidates, bringing their total to 30 for the upcoming 2027 municipal elections. The newly confirmed candidates represent various regions, including Anykščiai, Elektrėnai, Kaišiadorys, Kupiškis, Jonava, Mažeikiai, Neringa, Panevėžys, Pakruojis, Prienai, Rietavas, Raseiniai, Rokiškis, Utena, Varėna, Vilkaviškis, and Zarasai.

Simultaneously, the party has launched open primary elections in Kaunas to select its mayoral candidate. Five individuals are competing for the nomination: Šarūnas Jasiukevičius, Andrijana Filinaitė, Rokas Mickus, Dainoras Lukas, and Audronė Baronienė. The voting process involves approximately 2,000 participants, including both party members and supporters. A candidate must secure more than half of the votes in the first round to be elected; otherwise, a second round will be held in two weeks.
