Kaunas heating prices to decrease slightly this October
Heating prices in Kaunas, the Kaunas district, and Jurbarkas will be 7.24 cents per kWh (excluding VAT) this October. This represents a slight decrease from 7.25 cents per kWh in October of the previous year. Additionally, hot water prices are expected to decrease by 2 percent.
Kauno energija attributes the lower costs to more efficient operations, significant upgrades to heat production and distribution infrastructure, and a growing number of heat consumers, which now exceeds 126,000. The company has invested 8.7 million euros into infrastructure, including hydraulic testing of 500 km of networks and equipment updates at the Petrašiūnai power plant and various boiler houses.
In comparison to Lithuania's five largest cities, Kaunas will have higher heating costs than Vilnius (5.99 ct/kWh) and Klaipėda, but lower costs than Šiauliai (8.02 ct/kWh) and Panevėžys (8.19 ct/kWh).
