Kayem Foods recalls 1.5 million pounds of meat products
The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) has issued a Class I recall for approximately 1.5 million pounds of ready-to-eat meat and poultry products. The recall, initiated by Massachusetts-based Kayem Foods, follows reports of temperature fluctuations in a warehouse cooler that may have compromised product safety.
The affected items were manufactured between March 31 and October 7, 2026, and include hot dogs, bacon, sausages, ham, and deli meats. The recall impacts nine different brands: Kayem, Genoa, Al Fresco, Triple M, McKenzie Country Classics, Deutschmacher, Jordan’s, Essem, and Winnisimmet.
While no illnesses have been confirmed in connection with the recall, the USDA’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) classified this as a Class I recall, indicating a reasonable probability that consumption could cause serious health consequences or death. Consumers are advised to check official USDA notices for specific brand and label details.
