Kayem Foods meat and poultry product recall
Overview
Kayem Foods Inc., based in Chelsea, Massachusetts, initiated a large-scale recall of over 1.5 million pounds of ready-to-eat meat and poultry products. The recall was prompted by an investigation into temperature deviations within a warehouse cooler.
Initially, the recall covered products produced between March 31 and October 7, 2026, including items such as hot dogs, bacon, sausage, turkey breasts, hams, and deli meats. These products were distributed to retail and foodservice locations across the United States and Hong Kong. Subsequent reports clarified the shipping window for certain items as being between June 7 and October 14, 2026.
While no illnesses have been confirmed, the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) has upgraded the classification of the action to a Class I recall. This indicates a “reasonable probability that consumption could cause serious health consequences or death.”
The recall impacts nine different brands: Kayem, Genoa, Al Fresco, Triple M, McKenzie Country Classics, Deutschmacher, Jordan’s, Essem, and Winnisimmet. Authorities have urged consumers to discard or return affected products, specifically those identified by establishment numbers EST. 2515 or P-2515.
