Kayseri's Kocasinan Municipality Starts 6.4 MW Solar Plant Project
Kayseri’s Kocasinan district municipality, led by Mayor Ahmet Çolakbayrakdar, is completing a 104 000 m² solar power plant that will generate 6.4 MW. The facility, located in Cırgalan neighbourhood, is slated to begin production by the end of July 2026 and will supply electricity to all municipal buildings, workshops, rural facilities, parks and bitumen plants. The mayor said the project will make Kocasinan one of the few Turkish municipalities that produce their own energy, creating cost savings that will be returned to residents and paving the way for a fully electric vehicle fleet.
In parallel, the municipality is advancing other local infrastructure upgrades, including a 35 000 m² green park along Bekir Yıldız Boulevard in the Yenidoğan neighbourhood and a new shadirvan in Kayserispor Park, for which a 90‑day construction contract was awarded. These initiatives reflect Kocasinan’s broader push for sustainable urban development.
