Kayseri women maintain traditional yufka bread making
In the Kuşçu neighborhood of the Yeşilhisar district in Kayseri, women are gathering to prepare winter yufka bread through the traditional 'imece' method of communal labor. As winter approaches, the process begins with dough being kneaded at night to rest until morning.
At dawn, women gather to roll the dough into thin sheets using rolling pins, which are then cooked on a tandoor heated by wood fire. The prepared bread is stored to be consumed throughout the winter months. Local residents emphasize the organic nature of the process, noting that they use wheat harvested from their own fields and flour ground in local mills to avoid processed, store-bought alternatives.
