KCIC promotes Whoosh rail amid airport reopening

PT Kereta Cepat Indonesia China (KCIC) has introduced various ticket promotions for the Whoosh high-speed rail to coincide with the 81st Indonesian Independence Day holidays. Promoted fares include tickets starting from Rp8,800 for the Jakarta-Karawang route and Rp88,000 for the Jakarta-Bandung route. Additional discounts of up to Rp200,000 are available through Traveloka for specific transaction amounts and passenger counts.

Despite the reopening of Husein Sastranegara Airport in Bandung for commercial services, KCIC remains optimistic about the continued demand for the Whoosh service. KCIC officials state that the high-speed rail and commercial flights serve different market segments and complement one another rather than directly competing for the same passengers. As of August 2026, Whoosh stations in West Java continue to record high passenger volumes, with an average of over 18,000 daily arrivals and departures.
