KDE partners launch initiative for long-term Plasma 6.6 LTS support

KDE e. V., Kubuntu Focus, and Techpaladin Software have launched the ‘Bullet-Proof KDE Software Initiative’ to provide long-term stability for the KDE Plasma 6.6 LTS ecosystem. The partnership aims to deliver at least three years of dedicated security patches and bug fixes for KDE Plasma 6.6 LTS, KDE Frameworks libraries, and KDE Gear applications.

Kubuntu Focus is contributing $100,000 in funding over the three-year period and providing three new continuous integration (CI) nodes for automated testing on Kubuntu 26.04 LTS. This infrastructure is intended to improve the detection of regressions and ensure higher quality releases. The initiative is designed to meet the demands of enterprise users and power users who require predictable maintenance schedules and stability in open-source desktop environments, reducing the risks associated with rapid software release cycles.
