KDE Plasma 6.7.4 released with critical AMD GPU fixes and Wayland enhancements
The KDE community launched Plasma 6.7.4 on 4 August 2026 as the fourth maintenance update of the 6.7 series. The release focuses on stabilising the KWin window manager, adding critical work‑arounds for libepoxy failures that caused display corruption on AMD graphics cards during GPU resets, and fixing a DRM backend issue that removed idle GPUs from the system list.
SDDM now retains wallpaper settings when monitors are unplugged and avoids crashes in multi‑display setups. Wayland receives new protocol extensions, including wl_fixes.ack_global_remove, and a password‑free resume from sleep. Multi‑GPU handling is improved: KWin keeps GPUs without active outputs in the device list and a new KWIN_RENDER_NODES environment variable lets users select the rendering GPU. Additional refinements cover input focus outlines, smooth scrolling, notification icons, and various UI consistency fixes. The update is already in Arch Linux repositories and will appear in upcoming Ubuntu 26.10 and Fedora 45 releases.
