KDE Plasma 6.8 adds Remote Desktop auto‑lock and login manager upgrades

The KDE Plasma 6.8 development sprint introduced an automatic lock and unlock feature for Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP) sessions. When the last RDP client disconnects, the desktop session locks, and it unlocks when a new client connects, improving security for remotely managed machines.

A new command‑line tool, kscreenctl, replaces the deprecated kscreen‑doctor utility, offering scriptable display configuration. The Plasma Login Manager now remembers each user’s last‑used session type (Plasma, X11, or Wayland), simplifying logins on shared systems. Additional usability tweaks include task‑switching that targets the active monitor on multi‑screen setups, grouped transaction displays in Discover, and expanded language search in the initial setup wizard.
