KDE Plasma 6.8 update features faster panel auto-hide and multilingual search

The upcoming KDE Plasma 6.8 update introduces several performance enhancements and usability features aimed at creating a smoother desktop experience. A primary highlight is a tenfold increase in the speed of panel auto-hiding, reducing the trigger delay from 500 milliseconds to 50 milliseconds.

System Settings will now support multilingual search, allowing users to find settings using keywords in English or their local language. Additionally, a new autostart toggle enables users to disable startup entries without deleting them.

Stability and safety improvements have also been implemented. KWin now includes stricter resolution selection limits to prevent users from choosing settings that could brick a session. The update also features GPU-reset notifications for all GPUs, improved screenshot performance, and memory optimizations for the Discover software center. These changes are designed to reduce interface lag and improve overall system responsiveness.
