Kebbi State attacks kill police inspector and 11 civilians

Suspected members of the Lakurawa and Mamudawa terror groups launched a series of coordinated attacks on several communities in the Besse and Shanga riverine areas of Kebbi State, Nigeria. The attacks, which occurred between October 22 and October 28, resulted in the deaths of at least 11 civilians and one police inspector.

During the violence, attackers reportedly set houses on fire, looted shops, and stole motorcycles and food items. The incursions in villages such as Karwa, Kestu, and Wawilaiyi have caused widespread displacement, with many residents fleeing their homes for safety. While official police reports confirmed 12 deaths, some local residents claim the actual death toll may be higher.

State police spokesperson SP Bashir Usman confirmed that the police inspector was killed during an exchange of gunfire with the attackers. Security agencies have cordoned off the affected areas and launched a manhunt for the perpetrators to prevent further violence in the region.
