Keiko Fujimori authorized for official trips to El Salvador and Spain

The Peruvian Senate has officially authorized President Keiko Fujimori to travel abroad for two separate diplomatic missions in late October and early November 2026.

From October 28 to 31, Fujimori will visit El Salvador. Her agenda includes a private meeting with President Nayib Bukele and discussions with ministers regarding justice, security, education, and health. A key component of this trip is a visit to the Terrorism Confinement Center (CECOT), El Salvador’s high-security prison. Culture Minister Alberto Beingolea noted the trip is intended to learn from El Salvador’s approach to combating criminality, emphasizing that the goal is to understand what has functioned in their security models.

Following her return, the President will travel to Madrid, Spain, from November 2 to 6 to participate in the XXX Ibero-American Summit of Heads of State and Government, where she is scheduled to speak during the plenary session.
