Keiko Fujimori names Zulema Tomas as prospective EsSalud president
President Keiko Fujimori has confirmed that Zulema Tomas is being considered to serve as the next executive president of EsSalud, the Social Health Insurance institution. The decision follows a proposal by the Minister of Labor, Juan Sheput.
Fujimori emphasized that Tomas's previous role as a minister in the administration of former President Martín Vizcarra does not disqualify her from the position. The President stated that her evaluation is based on professional capacity and sector experience rather than past political affiliations. Tomas currently serves as the director of the Instituto Nacional de Salud del Niño San Borja.
Additionally, Fujimori announced that journalist and writer Álvaro Vargas Llosa has accepted an invitation to represent Peru as the ambassador to the United States. The appointment is currently awaiting formal protocol procedures.
