Keiko Fujimori addresses crime, dengue, and El Niño risks in Peru

Peruvian President Keiko Fujimori has called for public patience and trust as her administration implements new strategies to combat rising crime and organized delinquency. During recent appearances, including a ceremony for small business owners, Fujimori emphasized that her government aims to restore order and tranquility through improved coordination between the National Police and the Armed Forces, as well as increased use of intelligence.

In addition to security concerns, the President has been conducting official visits to northern regions like Tumbes to address environmental and health crises. She has supervised dengue vaccination campaigns for children and adolescents and inspected preventative measures against the El Niño phenomenon, such as the cleaning of riverbeds to prevent flooding.

To manage the risks posed by El Niño, the government has established a coordination commission led by the Ministry of Agrarian Development, involving several key ministries and the National Civil Defense Institute (Indeci). Meanwhile, infrastructure authorities are working with regional governments to accelerate strategic projects, such as drainage systems in Lambayeque, to mitigate the impact of potential heavy rains.
