Keiko Fujimori Secures Decisive Lead in Peru Presidential Runoff

Keiko Fujimori of Fuerza Popular leads Peru's presidential runoff with 50.11% of valid votes against 49.88% for left‑wing candidate Roberto Sánchez, a margin of roughly 43,000 votes with 99.8% of ballots counted. The electoral office says the advantage is mathematically irreversible, though it has not yet officially proclaimed a winner. Sánchez has refused to recognize the result, alleging fraud in overseas voting and demanding the annulment of the second‑round results.

International observation missions from the OAS and the European Union reported no irregularities and described the vote as calm and orderly. Fujimori called for national unity, pledging to restore basic services, rebuild infrastructure, and improve schools, while the formal proclamation of the winner is slated for 3 July.
