Peruvian Senate authorizes Keiko Fujimori's trips to El Salvador and Spain

The Peruvian Senate has approved authorization for President Keiko Fujimori to undertake two official international trips in late October and early November 2026.

From October 28 to 31, Fujimori will visit El Salvador following an invitation from President Nayib Bukele. The agenda includes a private meeting with Bukele and discussions with Salvadoran ministers regarding security, health, and education. A key component of the visit is an inspection of the Terrorism Confinement Center (CECOT) in Tecoluca, as the Peruvian government seeks to evaluate El Salvador’s security and prison management models for potential adaptation to Peru.

Following the Salvadoran visit, the President will travel to Madrid, Spain, from November 2 to 6 to participate in the XXX Ibero-American Summit of Heads of State and Government. The summit will address topics such as transnational organized crime, digital transformation, environmental sustainability, and artificial intelligence.
