Keiko Fujimori's claim of 30% congressional representation for Fuerza Popular proved inaccurate

In an interview, Keiko Fujimori, the elected president of Peru, said Fuerza Popular would hold only about 30% of seats in the upcoming bicameral Congress. Fact‑checking by PerúCheck shows the party actually secured 41 of the 130 seats in the Chamber of Deputies (31.5%) and 22 of the 60 seats in the Senate (36.7%). The combined share across both chambers is close to 30% only when the total number of seats is considered, but the party's individual representation exceeds that figure in each house.

The 2026‑2031 Congress will consist of 190 directly elected representatives. Fujimori's statement was therefore imprecise, though not entirely far from the aggregate total of the party's seats across both chambers.
