Keir Starmer to resign as MP for Holborn and St Pancras

Former British Prime Minister Keir Starmer has announced he is stepping down from Parliament, ending his 11-year tenure as the Member of Parliament for Holborn and St Pancras. This decision follows his departure from the leadership of the Labour Party and the premiership in July.

Starmer indicated that his future focus will shift toward international affairs, specifically targeting areas such as defense, security, trade, and technology. He also expressed a continued commitment to his campaign to end violence against women and girls.

Following Starmer's departure from party leadership, Andy Burnham, the former Mayor of Manchester, assumed the role of Labour leader and Prime Minister. The resignation of Starmer as an MP will trigger a by-election in the north London constituency.
