Keçiören Municipality provides psychological first aid training

Keçiören Municipality in Ankara has provided psychological first aid training to its staff to improve response capabilities during disasters and emergencies. Conducted in collaboration with the Keçiören Social Service Center of the Ministry of Family and Social Services, the program focuses on providing psychosocial support to citizens in crisis.

Led by sociologist Ecem Yıldız Bal, the training covers how to establish initial communication with individuals affected by traumatic events, identify immediate needs, and direct them to appropriate support mechanisms. The goal is to help victims feel safe, assist them in calming down, and facilitate access to necessary services.

The training included interactive, practical sessions where staff participated in role-playing scenarios involving accidents and emergency situations. These exercises allowed participants to practice establishing reassuring communication and analyzing the needs of victims in real-time.
