Keith Haring retrospective opens at Palazzo Braschi in Rome
A major retrospective exhibition dedicated to American artist Keith Haring opens at the Museo di Roma – Palazzo Braschi, running from October 6, 2026, to April 11, 2027. The exhibition features over 140 works, including pieces from the Nakamura Keith Haring Collection, which is the largest collection of the artist's work in the world.
The display showcases a wide range of media, including his iconic Subway Drawings, posters, sculptures, paintings, and works on paper. The exhibition traces Haring's career from his early days in the vibrant, underground culture of 1980s New York to his later works, highlighting his use of a universal visual language to address social issues, activism, and human rights.
Curators Kaoru Yanase, Ilaria Miarelli Mariani, and Claudio Zambianchi organized the event, which also pays homage to Haring's historical connection to Italy, including his 1984 mural in Rome. The exhibition aims to explore the complexity behind his recognizable pop iconography, touching on themes of sexuality, peace, and social struggle.
