Keke Wyatt disputes charges following Georgia arrest

R&B singer Keke Wyatt is disputing several reported charges following her arrest in Henry County, Georgia, on September 20. While booking records and some media reports listed charges including terroristic threats, aggravated assault, and third-degree cruelty to children, Wyatt’s representatives issued a statement claiming that court documentation reflects only one charge: simple assault.

Reports indicate the arrest may have stemmed from an incident during a custody exchange. A witness alleged that Wyatt brandished a firearm and made verbal threats, though Wyatt admitted to holding a weapon but denied making any threats or pointing it at anyone. The cruelty to children allegation is noted as a “witness” offense in Georgia, which can apply when a child is present during a violent act, rather than being the victim of physical harm.

Wyatt was released on September 22 after posting a $1,050 bond. Her team has expressed concern over the accuracy of reports involving children, stating, “We are simply asking that facts be reported responsibly.”
