Legal dispute over Keke Wyatt arrest charges

Overview

R&B singer Keke Wyatt is disputing the nature of charges following her arrest in Henry County, Georgia, on September 20. While initial booking records and media reports suggested charges including aggravated assault, terroristic threats, and third-degree cruelty to children, Wyatt’s representatives maintain that court documentation reflects only a single charge of simple assault.

The arrest reportedly involved a domestic disturbance during a custody exchange. An eyewitness alleged that Wyatt pointed a handgun at a vehicle and made verbal threats. Wyatt admitted to holding a weapon but denied making threats or pointing it at anyone.

Her legal team has specifically challenged the cruelty to children allegation, calling it an “extremely serious characterization” not supported by court papers. In Georgia, such a charge can be classified as a “witness” offense if a child is present during a violent act. Wyatt was released on September 22 after posting a $1,050 bond.
