Kellogg's closes historic Trafford Park factory in England

Kellogg's has officially ceased production at its historic Trafford Park factory in England, ending nearly a century of manufacturing at the site. The decision to close the facility was driven by inefficient space utilization and the high costs required for modernization. According to Chris Silcock, Kellogg's UK General Manager, the 1930s-era architecture meant only half of the total building area was usable, making necessary infrastructure investments economically unsustainable.

Production of global brands, including Corn Flakes, Rice Krispies, and Coco Pops, is being transferred to the company's facility in Wrexham, Wales. While manufacturing and packaging lines have stopped, the factory will remain open for administrative purposes until the end of the year.

The closure results in the loss of 360 jobs. Following negotiations between management and the Union of Shop, Distributive and Allied Workers (USDAW), an agreement has been reached to provide the affected employees with an enhanced redundancy package.
