Kelowna RCMP Gang Enforcement Team becomes permanent

The Kelowna RCMP’s Gang Enforcement Team (KGET) has transitioned from a pilot project to a permanent operational unit. Although officially announced on October 26, 2026, the four-member team was established as a full-time unit on September 15, 2026.

During its pilot phase in early 2026, the KGET conducted hundreds of enforcement actions, resulting in the seizure of over 12 kg of suspected illicit drugs and 215 weapons, including 10 firearms. Since becoming permanent in September, the team has seized approximately 1.8 kg of suspected drugs and 71 weapons, including two guns and seven imitation firearms.

The specialized team focuses on organized crime investigations, drug trafficking, and firearms offences. Beyond physical seizures, the KGET aims to disrupt criminal networks by targeting financial profits through cash seizures and the identification of assets for potential civil forfeiture. The unit also provides assistance to frontline officers during high-risk incidents and search warrants.
