Turkey expands e‑export target markets to 35 countries

Turkey's Ministry of Trade announced that the e‑export programme will now target 35 overseas markets, up from 18. The effort is led by Hasan Önal, head of the Export General Directorate's Digital Marketing and New Technologies Department. Official figures show e‑export value rose from $2 billion in 2022 to $6.4 billion in 2023, though Önal said the true amount is likely higher.

The United States is identified as the primary destination, followed by Saudi Arabia, Azerbaijan, Germany and recent additions such as France and Romania. The ministry has prepared guidelines for 27 global e‑marketplaces and offers support for advertising, commission fees, brand registration and overseas warehousing. AI‑driven information platforms are being developed, with a planned workshop together with the Turkish Industry and Business Association (TOBB). The Istanbul Global E‑Export Summit (IGEXX) will be held in the first week of September, featuring 33 marketplace participants.

Saudi Arabia and China are cited as observing Turkey's e‑export model as a leading example. The expanded target list aims to help Turkish firms reach global consumers more efficiently through digital platforms.
