Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu says businessman funded his party expenses amid CHP leadership tensions

Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu told TV100 that a businessman covered the cost of his car, the meals for his security detail and other expenses after the CHP central office stopped providing them. He declined to reveal the donor’s identity.

Journalist Şaban Sevinç later identified the benefactor as Nafer Çapar, a contractor who received 240 million Turkish lira for organizing CHP rally stages and 50 million lira for the November 2023 party congress.

During the same interview Kılıçdaroğlu addressed internal party strife, urging potential splinter leader Özgür Özel to stay within the CHP, rejecting any parallel structure, and noting that a court‑issued “absolute injunction” reinstated him as party leader.
