Texas Senate race intensifies as Trump endorses Ken Paxton

The Texas U.S. Senate race between Republican Ken Paxton and Democrat James Talarico has intensified as both campaigns ramp up efforts ahead of the November elections.

During a Rose Garden dinner, President Donald Trump endorsed Paxton, calling him perhaps ‘the best attorney general in the country.’ While Trump criticized Paxton’s physical appearance and television interview style, he urged Republican support, stating Paxton’s political record outweighs his presentation. Trump also noted plans to campaign for dozens of GOP candidates in tight races across the country.

In response, Talarico’s campaign released an advertisement accusing Paxton of dodging debate invitations. The ad characterizes Paxton as a ‘puppet’ controlled by billionaire handlers and highlights his past political controversies.

Meanwhile, Talarico has focused on community-building efforts, such as a recent Lotería night in San Antonio designed to foster supporter connections. Polling currently shows Talarico leading Paxton by less than 3 percentage points.
