Kena introduces 5G promotion and faces eSIM technical issues
Kena, the semi-virtual operator owned by TIM, has introduced a 5G promotion for existing customers currently using 4G-only plans. The offer, appearing in the operator’s app, provides the first month of 5G access for free, followed by a monthly renewal fee of 0.99 euros. Kena’s 5G service, which launched on July 16, 2025, offers speeds up to 250 Mbps.
Separately, Kena is experiencing technical issues regarding eSIM availability for new customers. While the operator’s website and support pages state that eSIMs can be purchased online, the official site currently only allows for the selection of physical SIM cards during the online activation process. This appears to be a temporary issue, as eSIM services were scheduled to be available online starting August 5, 2025.
