Kenitra prosecutors investigate claims of drug money in elections

The Public Prosecutor's Office at the Kenitra Court of Appeal has launched a judicial investigation into statements made by a candidate for the upcoming legislative elections regarding the potential use of drug money to influence electoral processes.

The investigation follows remarks attributed to Mustafa El Ibrahimi, a candidate for the Justice and Development Party (PJD) in Kenitra. During a party meeting, El Ibrahimi allegedly claimed that significant quantities of drugs—potentially up to 270 tons—could generate proceeds used to manipulate voting outcomes, local councils, parliament, and the government.

In an official statement, the King's Prosecutor General stated that the inquiry aims to determine the circumstances and details of these claims. The move is part of the judiciary's role in ensuring the integrity and safety of the electoral process and upholding the law. The investigation will result in necessary legal actions based on its findings.
