Kenneth Branagh to Lead New Scottish Highland Drama ‘Laird’ on Paramount+

Paramount+ has greenlit a new drama series titled “Laird,” set in the Scottish Highlands. The show stars Oscar‑winner Kenneth Branagh as the laird of Castle Drummoch, who battles an American billionaire intent on buying the surrounding glens.

The series is created by Jez Butterworth, John‑Henry Butterworth and Georgia Lee, with the pilot directed by two‑time BAFTA winner Joe Wright. Branagh also serves as an executive producer alongside the creators and Paramount Television Studios. Paramount+ describes “Laird” as an epic family saga exploring feuds, buried secrets and star‑crossed romances, portraying one man’s stand against unchecked wealth and power. The series will premiere globally on the streaming service, though no release date has been announced.
