Kenshi Yonezu to perform theme song for film version of Tora no Tsubasa
Singer-songwriter Kenshi Yonezu has written the new song “Konnichiwa Gokigenyou!” to serve as the theme song for the theatrical film version of “Tora no Tsubasa,” scheduled for release on January 15, 2027. This follows his work on the original NHK morning drama series, where he provided the theme song “Sayonara Mata Itsuka!”
Yonezu stated that he aimed to create a song that serves as a counterpart to his previous work, noting he composed it with the intention that it could be played at his own funeral. Lead actress Sari Ito expressed her admiration for the track, noting that while she expected a ballad, the actual melody and lyrics were unexpected and impactful.
The film continues the story of Torako, a character modeled after Japan’s first female lawyer and judge, Mitsuboshi Yoshiko. The plot follows Torako as she receives a sudden offer to chair a committee on gender equality issues just as she was approaching retirement.
