Kenya advances maritime and climate security partnerships

Kenya is strengthening its strategic security cooperation through participation in high-level African and international forums. At the inaugural African Maritime Security Forum in Accra, Ghana, the Kenya Navy joined leaders from Ghana, Nigeria, Sierra Leone, and South Africa to discuss maritime governance, intelligence sharing, and technological innovation to combat piracy and transnational crime.

Additionally, the National Defence University-Kenya (NDU-K) and the Netherlands Defence Academy (NLDA) held the Climate Change and Security Dynamics in Africa Symposium in Amsterdam. The symposium addressed how climate change impacts African security by driving resource competition and displacement. Discussions included the intersection of water security, military resilience, and the presentation of research regarding the KDF Environmental Soldier Programme.
