Kenya Education CS launches 2026 national exams with anti-cheating warnings

Education Cabinet Secretary Julius Mwanzi Ogamba has officially launched the 2026 national examination and assessment season in Kenya. During the launch at New Mtihani House in Nairobi, Ogamba issued a stern warning to candidates, teachers, supervisors, and center managers against engaging in any form of examination malpractice.

To safeguard the integrity of the results, the Ministry of Education is collaborating with security and intelligence agencies. The Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC) will implement enhanced security measures, including the use of smart padlocks on examination containers that allow for remote monitoring. KNEC head David Njegere noted that this technology, previously tested in 250 schools, will be rolled out nationwide.

The examination period is scheduled to run from October 19 to November 20. Specific assessments include the Kenya Primary School Education Assessment (KPSEA) from October 26 to October 29, and the Kenya Intermediate Level Education Assessment (KILEA) from October 26 to October 30.
