Kenya Meteorological Department forecasts rainfall for 32 counties

The Kenya Meteorological Department has issued a weather forecast indicating rainfall across 32 counties between late September and October 5, 2026. The advisory predicts varying conditions, including morning and afternoon showers, thunderstorms, and sunny intervals.

In the central region, including Nairobi, Kiambu, Nyeri, Murang’a, Kirinyaga, and Nyandarua, rainy spells are expected to increase as the week progresses. Nairobi may see temperatures drop from a high of 28°C to 24°C by October 5, while Nyandarua could experience nighttime lows of 5°C.

Coastal counties such as Mombasa, Kwale, and Kilifi are expected to remain sunny through October 2 before light showers arrive. Western Kenya and the Lake Victoria Basin, including Kisumu and Kakamega, are forecasted to have sunny mornings followed by light afternoon showers. Eastern region counties like Kitui, Machakos, and Makueni are also expected to see precipitation patterns.
