Kenya police arrest man for online ethnic incitement
Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) have arrested Festus Kipkirui in Narok East sub-county. Kipkirui, who uses the online alias ‘Festoo’, is suspected of operating a Facebook page titled ‘Kipz Prince en Narok’ dedicated to ethnic incitement.
Security agencies flagged the suspect for sharing inflammatory content targeting the Kikuyu community. Specific posts included images of weapons accompanied by captions such as ‘Finish Kikuyu save kenya’ and ‘either 2 term amh to finish Kikuyu’. Authorities identified these posts as direct incitement to ethnic violence and a breach of public order.
Kipkirui is currently in police custody and is expected to be arraigned at the Milimani Law Courts in Nairobi. He faces potential charges under the National Cohesion and Integration Act and the Computer Misuse and Cybercrimes Act.
