Kenya Power announces outages and faces court ruling on Nairobi disconnection

Kenya Power and Lighting Company (KPLC) has announced scheduled power interruptions across 10 counties, including Nairobi, Machakos, Uasin Gishu, Migori, Nyeri, Meru, Murang’a, Laikipia, Garissa, and Kitui. In Nairobi, the outages will impact several areas such as South C, Muthagia, and parts of Enterprise Road, affecting various residential estates, hospitals, and institutions.

Separately, a court ruling has addressed the legality of KPLC disconnecting electricity supply to the offices and installations of the County Government of Nairobi. The court determined that the disconnection was carried out without appropriate statutory or constitutional mechanisms, rendering the action inconsistent with the Constitution and invalid.
