Kenya schedules Nairobi water outage and power blackouts in Kisii and Nyeri

Nairobi Water announced a 24‑hour water supply interruption for Saturday, 20 June 2026, affecting Westlands, Lavington, Kilimani, Upperhill, Ngong Road, Madaraka, Langata, Kibera, Karen, Uthiru, Kawangware, Kangemi, Ruai, Ngundu, Kamulu, MAVWASCO and Oloolaiser Water Company. The shutdown is required to repair a leak on the NCT Raw Water Pipeline near the Kigoro Treatment Works. The notice read, “We wish to inform customers residing in the listed areas of a temporary water supply interruption caused by leakage on the NCT Raw Water Pipeline near Kigoro Treatment Works,” and urged residents to store sufficient water.

Kenya Power also posted a planned power interruption for Sunday, 21 June 2026, covering parts of Kisii County (including Nyanchwa Police, Christamarian Hospital, Show Ground, Quickmart, Naivas, Medifort Hospital, Oasis Hospital, KMTC, Treasury, NTSA) and Nyeri County (including Total Muhoya, Central Hotel, Brad Gate, ACK Boden Powel, Silver Dice, Club Zero 19, Kona Hauthi, Consolidated Bank, KWFT, Lions Optical, Chicken World). The outage will run from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. as part of network maintenance. Kenya Power stated, “Good Evening. The listed areas will be under planned power maintenance tomorrow (21st June 2026).” Customers were advised to make necessary arrangements ahead of the work.
