Kenyan Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua alleges secret leaks on Ruto's address and plan to arrest Auditor General

Rigathi Gachagua, leader of the Democracy for Citizens Party and former Deputy President, said he received confidential information from sources inside State House about President William Ruto's State of the Nation address. He claimed the address would shift focus to a long‑term development vision and that insiders were dissatisfied with the President’s handling of the country.

Gachagua also alleged that the Directorate of Criminal Investigations has been instructed to find grounds to arrest Auditor General Nancy Gathungu because of her audit findings on government programmes. He accused President Ruto of seeking to silence the auditor and said civil servants, police and intelligence officers were increasingly unhappy with political interference. The claims were not independently verified and officials from the Auditor General’s office, the DCI and the police had not responded at the time of publication. The allegations came just before Ruto announced a national conversation on the new development vision.
