Kenyan leaders discuss Linda Mwananchi rally and 2027 election strategy

Political leaders in Kenya are discussing the upcoming Linda Mwananchi rally scheduled for Sunday at Jacaranda grounds in Nairobi. Makadara MP George Aladwa stated that the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) has no intention of disrupting the event, emphasizing that Kenya is a democracy where all political groups have the right to assemble and present their agendas.

Separately, former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, speaking from Portland, Oregon, revealed he held a discussion with Embakasi East MP Babu Owino regarding the selection of a unified opposition presidential candidate for the 2027 General Election. Gachagua advised Owino to remain patient, noting that the opposition has sufficient time to agree on a flagbearer, citing the 2002 election as a historical precedent for late-stage consensus.

The Linda Mwananchi rally is expected to feature leaders including Senator Edwin Sifuna, Governor James Orengo, and Babu Owino.
