Kerala CM V. D. Satheesan's convoy blocked by Congress leader
Police in Thiruvananthapuram have arrested Chenthi Anil, a District Congress Committee (DCC) leader, for allegedly obstructing the convoy of Kerala Chief Minister V. D. Satheesan. The incident occurred on Friday night while the Chief Minister was traveling to an event in Chempazhanthy commemorating the birth anniversary of social reformer Sree Narayana Guru.
According to police reports, Anil and a group of supporters stopped the Chief Minister’s vehicle near Chenthi to demand his presence at a separate Sree Narayana Guru anniversary celebration. The encounter reportedly escalated into a heated argument between Anil and Satheesan. While the Chief Minister’s office stated the Chenthi event was not on his official itinerary, organizers claimed he had been invited.
Anil faces multiple charges under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), including wrongful restraint, criminal intimidation, and obstructing a public servant from performing official duties. Following the incident, the Congress party decided to suspend Anil due to his conduct toward the Chief Minister. Anil has attributed the police action to internal factionalism within the party.
