Kerala High Court Declines CBI Probe into ED Attack Case

The Kerala High Court on July 3 rejected a petition to hand over the investigation of an alleged attack on Enforcement Directorate officials to the Central Bureau of Investigation. The attack occurred on May 27 during a search at the rented residence of former chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan and his daughter in Kochi. The bench, noting a detailed status report from the state, said the ongoing police investigation was progressing satisfactorily and found no justification for a CBI takeover.

The state police have registered a case at the Museum Police Station, collected forensic and video evidence, recorded statements from 44 witnesses and arrested 25 accused persons, who are now in judicial custody. Medical records of both the injured officials and the accused have been secured, and notices have been sent to media houses for additional footage.

The court emphasized there was no evidence of prior intelligence failure, bias, or interference in the probe and therefore dismissed the public‑interest litigation.
