Kerala High Court dismisses police protection plea against CM V. D. Satheesan

The Kerala High Court has dismissed a plea filed by expelled Congress leader Simi Bell Rose John seeking police protection against Kerala Chief Minister V. D. Satheesan and his brother, V. D. Ajayakumar.

Justice Bechu Kurian Thomas observed that the petitioner failed to provide material evidence demonstrating that her life or property were under threat from the respondents. The court noted that a police inquiry conducted following her complaint revealed no existing threat. Furthermore, the court suggested the petition might stem from a personal grudge, noting that Simi had been expelled from the party, allegedly at the instance of Satheesan, who was the Leader of Opposition at the time of the filing.

Simi had alleged that Satheesan was responsible for the unjustified expulsion of several veteran politicians and claimed her son had been attacked in Delhi at their instance. However, police statements informed the court that no verifiable records existed regarding an attack on her son, and an assault involving an associate was determined to be related to a family dispute rather than political targeting.
