Kerman mining projects and renewable energy initiatives inaugurated
During a visit to Kerman Province, President Masoud Pezeshkian inaugurated five national projects by the National Iranian Copper Industries Company valued at 35 trillion tomans. Key developments include the Khatunabad slag flotation plant, a 95 million euro investment designed to produce 36,000 tons of copper concentrate annually, and a 42 MW self-sufficiency power plant to stabilize electricity supply.
President Pezeshkian emphasized the province's potential for renewable energy, specifically wind and solar, to reduce reliance on fossil fuels. He also highlighted the importance of using corporate social responsibility (CSR) funds to improve national infrastructure and schools.
Local officials, including the representative of the Supreme Leader in Kerman, have called for a structured, long-term plan for the mining sector to ensure continuity despite management changes. There are also calls to establish a specialized committee to oversee CSR spending, ensuring funds are prioritized for essential cultural and foundational needs rather than minor projects.
