Keskisuomalainen changes newspaper distribution in North Savo

Mediakonserni Keskisuomalainen is changing the early morning newspaper distribution model in small towns across North Savo, Finland. Starting November 10, many subscribers who previously received newspapers in their individual mailboxes will instead find them in communal mailboxes.

These communal boxes are located near existing mailbox groups or other central locations. Customers have been notified via mail regarding the specific number and location of their assigned boxes. Tuomas Huusko, the consumer sales manager for the Savo-Karjala region, stated that while the change is significant, the communal boxes are intended to ensure that early morning delivery remains viable.

The shift follows a new three-year logistics agreement between the media group and Posti, which takes effect at the turn of the year. The company cited cost-effectiveness and the need to optimize delivery routes as primary drivers for the change. While Posti will handle early morning delivery in larger urban areas and select smaller towns, Keskisuomalainen will manage distribution in other locations.
