Keskisuomalainen newspaper distribution changes

Overview

Mediakonserni Keskisuomalainen is implementing a new early morning newspaper distribution model for small towns in North Savo and Heinävesi, Finland. Starting in early November, many subscribers will transition from receiving newspapers in individual mailboxes to using communal collection boxes located near central points or existing mailbox groups.

Tuomas Huusko, the consumer sales manager for the Savo-Karjala region, stated that while the change is significant, the communal boxes are intended to ensure that early morning delivery remains possible. The shift follows a new three-year logistics agreement with Posti, which takes effect at the turn of the year. The company cited the need for cost-effectiveness and route optimization as primary drivers. Under this arrangement, Posti will manage early morning delivery in larger urban areas and select smaller towns, while Keskisuomalainen will manage distribution in other locations.
